If we can create more balanced tech start-ups now, with gender equality baked in, and can promote general gender equality throughout the tech industry, we’re going to make a better technology industry for our future generations. However very few tech businesses are led by women and less than 25% of those working in tech businesses are women. This series of events across Yorkshire will explore what it takes to encourage the growth of tech businesses and how it might be possible to get more women involved.

We will hear from a number of speakers across the week of events including industry experts and tech entrepreneurs.

INNOVATION EXPLORATION

What is innovation and why do we need it?

Innovation is a well-worn word in business. But what does it ACTUALLY mean.

And more importantly, what does it mean to your business?

Well….we can give you a definition, but we are pretty sure this won’t answer your questions on the topic, or tell you if you are getting it right in your business.

Innovation, by definition, is the introduction of something new. Without innovation, there isn’t anything new, and without anything new, progress stalls.

If an organisation isn’t making any progress, it simply cannot stay relevant in the competitive market.

The McKinsey Report tells us 80% of executives think their current business models are at risk of being disrupted in the near future. In addition, 84% of executives say that innovation is important to their growth strategy.

This tells us innovation is strongly linked to opportunity – Disruptive new business models have proven they can topple global giants.

A rather obvious example is Netflix VS Blockbuster. Need we say more…..

According to the 2017 PwC Innovation Benchmark54% of innovating organizations have trouble bridging the gap between innovation strategy and the larger business strategy.

We are coming to Halifax to hold a Business Advice Pop-up Cafe with our friends at Calderdale Council.

The Popup will be open from 9.00-12:30pm and we will have local experts waiting to give practical answers to your questions on a range of business topics. Totally informal, non-sales, turn up when you like, leave when you like, come back again when you feel like it. It’s a cafe, not a conference.

Leeds Beckett University invite businesses interested in productivity and efficiency to take part in an exciting “Productivity Programme”. The three stage programme will help your businesses to improve and embed productivity to increase sales and save costs.

Learn the essential measures of the efficiency of production with our expert-led masterclass that will help analyse your current performance and increase your business productivity.

What is involved?

Diagnostic: You will undertake a simple pre-programme survey followed by a telephone interview with academic Ollie Jones to understand what productivity means to you and your business. The initial diagnostic phase will aim to benchmark your productivity strengths and opportunities.

Masterclass: Following the diagnostic, you will attend a one day masterclass which will help your business understand the nature of productivity; explain why it’s important, and how it links to growth. We will explore how to increase your productivity, as well as deciding the most suitable methodology, tools, and techniques for your productivity improvement.

The masterclass will help you establish goals, create actions, prioritise work and gain top tips from an experienced academic and other likeminded businesses.

Business Visit: Ollie will visit your business to discuss the actions from the workshop and will provide practical advice, feedback and guidance on the development and implementation of your productivity performance management plan.
