Tuesday, 9 November, 12.00-2pm
Having a website can be a crucial part of your overall online identity, marketing strategy and income generation.
But where do you start?
This session will enable you to identify your own specific website requirements based on your individual business needs, goals and objectives. We will walk you through the main aspects of creating a sound website specification including user requirements and experience, technical requirements and specification, content, accessibility, site maintenance and development, and planning and adapting to future growth. You will leave the session with the beginnings of a clear and concise website brief and the knowledge and understanding of how to turn this into a reality.
Claire Gibbons and Paddy Callaghan will deliver this session.
Paddy Callaghan’s career in web development spans nearly 20 years in which time he has worked across a number of sectors, and with businesses and organisations of varying size. Paddy is currently the Web Developer at Leeds Trinity University and also consults with small and medium sized companies across Yorkshire, enabling them to utilise their web presences to full effect. His knowledge of, and specialisation in, both the user experience and the more technical aspects of web development gives him a wealth of experience and understanding to share with businesses however new or established, and whatever their business goals.
Claire Gibbons has been working with Leeds Trinity University for just over two years and recently project managed the University’s ambitious website redevelopment programme (the new website went live in February 2020). Prior to that Claire was the Web and Content Manager at the University of Bradford for over a decade until 2016 and has since worked with a number of UK and Irish Universities on website and digital transformation projects and with smaller charities on website and marketing projects in a voluntary capacity. Claire is also the Co-Chair of the Institutional Web Management Workshop (IWMW) – the UK’s leading annual event for web and digital team in Higher Education.
