Recruiting staff can be a costly process that businesses want to get right and involves the collection and use of personal data about individuals. Businesses have a fine balancing act to undertake when it comes to complying with data protection and employment laws for recruitment purposes, ensuring their need to have an individual’s information doesn’t override their rights and freedoms. This workshop will be delivered by Caroline Chapman of Grounded Human Resources and Samantha Dunwell of Dunwell Data Protection.
The workshop will include how to write a job description and person specification to know exactly who you are looking for, what to include in an advert and how to shortlist applications and interviewing tips. It will also include what you must tell individuals about how you will use their personal data as part of the recruitment and selection process; and how to comply with data protection laws when processing staff personal data. It will also look at what pre-employment checks need to be carried out and what should be included in an employment contract. The workshop will be scenario based where we follow a recruitment process from job description, to advertising to selecting an individual to issuing their contract of employment.

Logging on to the session:
You will receive a reminder email two days before the online workshop this will give you the link and password you will require to enter the session. You will be taken to a registration page, if you can fill out your details in and click register you will be taken through to the online workshop. The workshop will start prompt at 10am, however for our records you will be required to sign into the session. Therefore can I ask you log on to the workshop from 9.30am. Once you are in the session, you will receive a signing in sheet, if you can follow the instructions via the email and sign the document online and click complete.
