Operations Strategy: Informed and Impactful Business Decisions
Operations is a super function that considers all resources, and should be driven by customer need and competition.
Understanding and developing your operations strategy will enable you to make better business decisions, both operational and strategic.
Knowing your resources and your desired outcomes will lead to you choosing the best scenarios for your business, which will have a direct impact on revenue, service levels, costs and working capital.
Taken from real business practice by leaders in their fields, from Procter & Gamble to ASDA this approach will ensure you only make decisions that are good for your business, reducing the risk to your bottom line.
Operations Strategy (OS) – What we will cover.
The session aims to synchronise strategic and operational views on business. The following aspects will be explored and discussed:
• What is Operations Strategy – integrative practice of transforming resources into desired outcomes, supported by a better (evidence-based) business decision making.
• How OS aligns with external (customer and competitors) and internal (tangible and intangible resources) business contexts – “B-EST” practice. (MARKETING)
• How to formulate comprehensive and coherent OS – “4 perspectives” practice (corporate, bottom up, market and resources).
Essential learning for start-up and scale up leaders, this informative and practical session has been developed by Leeds Trinity University’s highly experienced Professor of Business Education, Denis Kobzev, MD, PhD, MBA, SFHEA, who will also deliver the session.
Denis is a ‘hybrid’ academic and senior manager with R&D and management development experience gained both in Higher Education (14 years) and ‘blue chip’ companies (7 years). His qualifications include both academic (MD, PhD, MBA) degrees and professional (Project Management / PRINCE2) certificate.
His industry experience, as well as client relationship management skills were developed via collaborative projects between businesses and HE. His top industry position at Procter & Gamble was a Senior Manager External Relations for Europe, Middle East & Africa, with responsibility for R&D, professional and management development programmes conducted in partnership with world leading Universities (Oxford, Cranfield) and clients like ASDA/Walmart, Migros, Spar, Aldi, Carrefour, NHS and other. After achieving the ‘Manager of the Year’ award (The Financial Times / Wall Street Journal group, 2002) and securing HRM Chevening Scholarship he completed MBA programme (rated by AMBA / The Economist in ‘World Top 5 MBA Students’ 2003) and moved to HE sector.
