19 AUGUST – Moving On without Moving In

It’s often natural to want to set your new business up in commercial premises but is it really necessary? We have some down to earth hints and tips about what you need to be aware of when considering where you will locate your business.

Douglas Oliver, property lawyer at Rollits LLP will touch on the some of the pitfalls that you need to look out for whether you are leasing or buying property for your business. Christine Geddes supports start-up businesses at Make it York and is a former business owner. She will share some top tips to being successful in finding the right premises for your business.

Olivia Chatten , Business Development Executive at York Science Park will discuss the options regarding occupancy agreements, types of workspace to consider and benefits of space at the University of York.

This workshop is for anyone thinking of setting up or scaling their business and considering property in York.

Douglas Oliver is a partner at Rollits LLP and a property lawyer with considerable experience. His work includes site assembly, advising RSL’s on planning agreements, drafting management agreements, shared ownership leases, restricted price covenant schemes, licenced premises freehold and leasehold acquisition and disposal, commercial leases, conditional contracts, options, overage agreements and funding agreements.

Christine Geddes is the Business Development Executive at Make It York working with start up companies in the City. She has a wealth of experience within the city and has set up and run her own business.

Olivia Chatten is Business Development Executive at York Science Park and Phase One Business Incubator at the University of York.

You will be taken to a registration page, if you can fill out your details in and click register you will be taken through to the online workshop. The workshop will start prompt at 10.30am however for our records you will be required to sign into the session. Therefore can I ask you log on to the workshop from 10.am. Once you are in the session, you will receive a signing in sheet, if you can follow the instructions via the email and sign the document online and click complete.
